Our First MATRIMONIO DIVINO!

Winter Wedding in an Alpine Chalet

What could be a better gift than getting married to the man you love and having all your loved ones around you in a cozy mountain cabin atmosphere in our Alps! This couple chose the magical setting of Limone Piemonte...

It all started when a very sweet girl calls Monia, on the borderline of a nervous breakdown because she has the dream of having a wedding in Limone, on the snow, a week before Christmas...an original and romantic setting... I'd say not expecting much..eh?!

But what a wonderful challenge for Monia to plan and design everything with this bride!

And best of all, it is the first "MATRIMONIO DIVINO" branded wedding!

So, Stile Divino Travel was immediately contacted for the destination and Monia got right to work for the planning.

After a couple days Monia met Federica - who lives in Genova- right there on the slopes, but she wasn't there for skiing, but there to see where and how to execute this wedding and make her dream come true!

Backstage_MD

matrimonio_divino_limone_1022

After getting to know Federica, and her passionate way of talking about her "AMORE" and dreams, our wedding planners fell in love with this girl and her ideas...almost feeling like they were childhood friends. An experience which can not be repeated!

Of course there were some problems to face.. and it is part of a wedding planner's job to solve them, but this time it seemed like everything was against this wedding... to the point where one day Federica, on the phone, who is never discouraged, in tears, with desperation in her heart asked if all these mishaps which were arising were only a bad dream...that she shouldn't get married! NO WAY!

A love as big as this couple's could not be stopped by anything...and so, after two months of planning, purchasing and renting for this grand moment, we decided to change everything or rather almost everything and realize that planning "A WEDDING IS A JOB!"..but there was one mystery which was out of our control...the snow!

And we can reassure you that at 1400 mt., on the ski slope, it can truly be problematic...

... but with good luck for a change, as the forecasts called for, we had a splendid sunny day! I must say cold however...no extremely COLD...reaching a temperature of 12 BELOW! brrrrrrr...

We are sure you wanted to see some photos but the whole story will come out in the January edition of VIEW SPOSA Italian Magazine..here is just an idea of the story...

This bride had asked for an elegant decor, unusual and very romantic, and therefore we abandoned the idea of RED, for Christmas, typical of the holiday season and went with warmer tones of elegant white, chocolate, hazelnuts together with sage greens and mauves. The main theme was to develop the colors in a decorated setting in flowers, with fur and wool details.

So here is just a taste....

LESS IS MORE...INTERVIEW WITH BRITTA

It's about time to check in with our featured bride in her planning phase. 1 month has flown by and probably even more for Britta the Bride than us the readers! I am anxious as I am sure you are to hear what progress she has made...

Q: Buon giorno Britta...How's life?
A: Great!

Q: So... my burning question is... have you decided on a date yet? I need to get a plane ticket!
A: Yes! So exciting and a huge relief to check that off the list. We're getting married on September 17, 2011 at a good friend's winery in Sonoma, California. Not only is it the time of year we wanted, its at a very special place that we have a personal connection to. We are thrilled.

Q: WOW! congratulations! and now what? What seem to be the next priorities to check off on your list?
A: Booking hotel rooms, determining how much caterers will cost and defining our budget.

Q: Ahhh yes...budget..the fun part. I am sure food is a critical part of your wedding;) Good taste! Have you thought about who you would like for a photographer, or how you are going to choose him or her?
A: No idea, I guess ask around to friends who have been married in wine country. Funny story, our downstairs neighbor is actually a photographer but she is just about to haver her 2nd child so is out of commission for the next few months. I may ask to see her work or if she has any recos. She's lovely, and Australian which is a connector for Gav and I since we both lived in Sydney for a year at different times in our lives and Australia holds a very special place in both of our hearts.

Q: Seems like it is important to base your decisions on their symbolism and meaning that they have to you two... have you thought at all about the kind of music you'll choose?
A: Well, we really want this french quartet called the Baguette Quartet. How fun would that be, who doesn't love a little accordian action while walking down the aisle. Couldn't be more me. And for the reception, we'll probably have a dj. Haven't gotten that far yet.

Q: Just come to Italy for a little bit of accordian! Just kidding...sounds magical and unique! By the way are you having a religious ceremony?
A: No, I am not religious and Gav is not really either. I feel it would be offensive for me to pretend I am on this important event. I just want a great officiant who knows us and will be a smooth and genuine talker, without bringing God into the mix.

Q: Is there anything GREEN (meaning eco friendly) that you would like to incorporate in your wedding?
A: Yes to some degree. We want dahlias as our flowers and they are native to Sonoma and in season at that time of year. Caterer will be from Sonoma sourcing local products, and as a party favor we're talking either Sonoma honey or lavendar from a local farm. We have simple taste and less is really more.

Q: On a more personal note... does wedding planning seem to be consuming all your time and conversations or does it still all seem so far away for you?
A: It has been a gradual progression. A friend of mine made a good point that lots of people get engaged over the Holidays and since we kept finding that our dates were open at most places, I didn't want to risk losing them. It was a mutual decision to decide by Thanksgiving, and great success - we did! Now we need to book hotel rooms and get quotes from caterers, this will happen this month and then come the new year (wow is it here already?) we will start with the fun stuff like invitations, design, website, etc.

Q: That is a good point. I suppose it is never too early these days to go ahead and book what you are sure you want... so tell me... do you feel like your relationship has changed with your fiancè based on the fact that you live together and realize that you are going to tie the knot soon?
A: Considering what a huge step it is, it has actually been the smoothest transition thus far in my life. Gavin and I have been together a long time and we are fundamentally compatible, so we like being around each other all the time. We are both very busy people, whether it be work obligations or social ones, and knowing we can come home and see each other (even if the other is asleep) is comforting.

awwwwwww....and on that note I'll let you enjoy your time with your future husband..thanks britta and we'll talk to you soon!

Our Russian in all her Furor

Now introducing Julia, Russian, fascinating and determined … of few words, but all about the facts.

Here she is in all her splendor…

Foto Julia

“I am Russian and I love my country immensly, but another Italian region stole a part of my heart. From the time I discovered Piedmont, and particularly the territory of Langhe and Roero (7 years ago), I have wanted to share my discovery, first with relatives and friends, and then with all those who love Italy. This wish brought me to collaborate with the tour operator Stile Divino Travel, which is comprised of a motivated and creative staff, enamored with their profession.
The new brand
“Matrimonio DiVino”, founded on the creative partnership between a travel agency and wedding planner, inspired me to work with a newly renovated vigor. Weddings are always assiociated with beauty and romanticism, and the tandem Kairòs and Stile DiVino, created a myriad of innovative ideas, which has allowed me to see all of our most beautiful dreams come true. Furthermore, dealing with serious and experienced professionals has convinced me to be a part of this project, and become one of them.

and in original language….

The fortune of having collaborators from all over the world makes us polyglots! wow!

What a team of women...and it hasn't finished yet...the best is yet to come...partner and owner of Stile Divino Travel...

Fall-Winter Reception Menu

Sometimes choosing the menu can be the best part of the whole wedding planning process(especially for the guys) if it includes multiple tastings. On the other hand, it could lead to utter confusion when you try to appeal to everyone's tastes.

First you must decide if you want a sit-down dinner, a buffet, or just a casual type barbeque or picnic style meal. Italy is known for their usual long and multiple course meals which can sometimes be painful to get through...a true gastronomic challenge. You can only imagine what the wedding feasts involve! However, in the north, going lighter is getting more popular... perhaps having a type of buffet for the aperitivo and then a reasonable sit down meal would be the best solution, allowing guests to have the energy to dance afterwards!

Here is an example of a FALL/WINTER wedding menu that I loved from this weekend's wedding!

BUFFET APERITIVO

- polenta cakes with gorgonzola
- shrimp and black lentil cups

- crackers with pate and berries
- Parmesan round
- Squash soup served in a pumpkin
- hot "salatini" salty meat, cheese, spinach pastries
- fritto misto ... fried vegetables, snails, frog legs, and shrimp
- a glazed ham cut and served in front of the people

- prosciutto leg sliced on request

ANTIPASTI (two 1st courses...one cold and one hot)

- carne cruda (tartare) with black truffle shavings

- hot soufflè of cardoons with bagna cauda sauce

PRIMO (second course)

- leek risotto

SECONDO (third course or entrèe)

- Razza piemontese special grade A roasted veal with potatoes and broccoli

FRUIT PLATTERS

PASTICCERIA PLATTER
with chocolate covered oranges, mini cups of cream, artisanal local cookies

WEDDING CAKE

Of course this was accompanied with only the finest wines...sparkling Cà del Bosco to start and then local red Renato Ratti Nebbiolo. The ingredients and plates are all seasonal which can be difficult during this season. I would recommend a similar kind of menu for your winter wedding!

and don't forget the best part...MIDNIGHT PASTA for when you all get hungry after dancing!

Interview With A Beautiful Bride-To-Be

Is getting married out of style? No way! It seems as though love is all around me and everyone is tying the knot! One of these soon-to-be brides is one of my dearest friends from high school who I decided to interview. This is for all those brides who would like to compare notes, share in this bride's planning program, and experience her emotions through this process. So let's comment on trends and brainstorm ideas together ... and hear from the featured bride-to-be Britta Purcell, 28 year old San Franciscan raised in Napa Valley California. I must say a classy, cultured, yet funky kind of gal!

How did your fiancè propose to you? Were you expecting it?

My fiance Gavin proposed to me while on vacation in France. I had done most of the planning and reserving of hotels/restaurants, so he tried to find a time that was "unplanned". At the end of our 10 day trip, we were in Burgundy, France and had taken a bike ride through the vineyards, had a very nice lunch and then he suggested we "take a drive" to see that castle we'd seen on the drive in from Paris. We drove through the country roads to the little castle town and walked around for a bit, noticing there was a fantastic view point over the valley below. I did not think he was going to propose until he paused as we were leaving and said we should have a glass of wine and enjoy the scenery (he had bought a nice bottle the day before without me knowing). So we got the wine and went to sit down and he told me to open it...I reached down to get the bottle and at the bottom of the bag was the ring. He said some very nice words, we took lots of pictures and drank our glass of wine then drove back to our hotel to relax and make phone calls! All in all, it was perfect, not overly planned, centered around wine and romantic. I could not have asked for a better story.

How much time are you giving yourselves before the wedding?

About 10 months

That seems pretty common. What is your planning timeline? Do you have one?

Currently the beginning of November and we have looked at possible venues and hope to decide in the next couple of weeks on the place and date (most likely September 2011).

So you've already started the process? What have you done so far?

Looked at 4 spots, asked our families to create their guest list - edited that down - begun a pros and cons list of the places we've seen.

and what sources are you using to help you plan? (internet searches, magazines, websites, friends?) Which ones?

Friends, wedding blogs (greenweddingshoes, stylemepretty, 100layercake). My mom got me Martha Stewart's wedding planning book which is helpful in giving a timeline for planning. I've only opened it though :)

What is your dream location?

Amongst vineyards, during harvest (late August-September), outside...preferably with a harvest/full moon!

and your dream dress? wink wink

Already found it. BLEEP BLEEP (for obvious reasons!) but it's feminine.

Are you thinking about having a theme? colors?

I like neutrals so my idea is to have bridesmaids in creme/khaki/linen. I want long farm tables with white tablecloths and linen/creme runners. Then lots of different glass, wine bottles, carafes, and big pops of color - dahlias are in season and local to Sonoma around that time so I envision lots of different colors on a neutral/earthy backdrop. When the scenery is beautiful, and you're in nature, I believe you shouldn't do too much. Just highlight the surroundings.

Sounds like a perfect setting. Do you feel like this is a stressful process or a beautiful and fun process?

I feel like thinking about cost and size are the most stressful parts. I am not worried about the creative details. Those things are exciting and fun and I'm pretty good about making decisions on taste and personal preference. But being sensitive to my fiance and learning to have those complex conversations about money, etc is a learning experience that I want to do right since its pretty much setting the tone for our communication for our marriage. I have total faith in us and the wedding but I tend to take a lot of the stress on myself so my biggest challenge is working through those feelings.

to be continued!

Vineyard weddings are in demand and as Britta said the setting seems to be one of the most important and most beautiful components in a wedding. Our Barolo DiVino package would be perfect if any of you would like the combination of an Italian wedding set in the wine country Italy please contact us for further information.

Please add your comments! Britta seems quite ready!

Fabulous Florence!

… enough about me...let's introduce our other essential element of our Matrimonio Divino STAFF who is helping to promote MATRIMONIO DIVINO weddings worldwide! Here is her story:

“I was born in French Switzerland, between the vineyards and Lake Lemano. I remember fondly the vibrant colors and various aromas of the harvest. Twenty years ago, for LOVE, I moved to Piemonte Italy. Piemonte stole my heart, its diverse landscapes enchanted me. I once again discovered the lakes, vineyards, sweet hillsides and charming villages that marked my childhood.

Twelve years as a flight attendant, the following years brought me along different paths, one year and a half ago I decided to take an important turn in my life!

All of this started with my passion for my new land of adoption, with the hope to share it with other foreigners; I had the lucky chance to meet Daniela, owner of the Incoming agency StileDiVino Travel, with whom I began a worthwhile collaboration. This project developed quickly: Daniela introduced me to Monia, who she was creating the registered brand “MATRIMONIO DIVINO” together with, and they offered me the opportunity to work be a part of this project and follow the French speaking countries of Northern Europe.

How could I not accept such a fantastic opportunity? An enthusiastic and brilliant project! I felt graciously honored to take part in a prestigious team like this, whose only mission is to MAKE BRIDE AND GROOMS DREAMS COME TRUE. Monia's long experience, owner of Kairòs, Wedding Designer “haut de Gamme”, is a guarantee of quality for brides and grooms that decide to plan and organize their wedding with MATRIMONIO DIVINO; we know how to listen diligently and leave space for your most imaginary and hidden dreams.

Luxurious, emotional, and unique weddings … this is what we offer, the most important DAY of your lives can be set in the most exceptional picture frame ... Piedmont and all its beauty!

I love music, almost all kinds, but my passion lies particularly with Jazz which can be compared slightly to my work. The base is an all so familiar melody that we all know - the Wedding - it is modulated according to sensitivity, character and the musician's passion. It is for this reason that we can compare Jazz to MATRIMONIO DIVINO; your wedding will be like the staff and we will put the most melodic notes on it to compose as a team, as a group the most beautiful musical piece of your lives.

Would you like to become composers of the Musical Masterpiece of your lives? Let's get to work, I'm waiting for you!!!"

… and if you want to practice your French, in the original romantic language of Flo ….

The Splendors of a Mediterranean Honeymoon

Hi guys,

Sorry for the lack of posts in the last three weeks but I have been on my honeymoon. This choice was a HUGE dilemma for my husband and me. We had been going back and forth over many exotic locations trying to think of the farthest place away where the weather would be nice and where it would all fit our budget in the month of September. I am sure all of you brides are going through a similar process. Well we ended up deciding on staying nearby and going to Greece. You don't have to go far away when you live in the Mediterranean! This is the best place to be in my opinion.

But what is it that you look for in a honeymoon? Would any place suffice as long as you had some down time with your hubby after all the wedding stress?

Is it most important to have one of the nicest vacations of your life and splurge on EVERYTHING? Are you just looking for a fancy five star hotel that can pamper you by the pool?

Do you look for adventure, culture, or just relaxation time?

Do you think it's just as glamourous to have a destination wedding and extend the trip into your honeymoon? Would love your feedback!

STELLAR SUMMER WEDDING

SUMMER STARS WEDDING

Kairos has just ended the season with a very "stellar" summer wedding. Monia the wedding planner herself, was particularly emotional about this wedding and making dreams come true. Star themed, the ceremony took place inside a charming Abbey in Piemonte.

More and more so often church weddings are less common, but what could be more Italian than exchanging vows in a tiny little abbey, modernized with these floating rose constellations!? A unique and romantic touch! Soft yet elegant white roses are the traditionally used flower in Italian weddings. Below you can see how nicely the white contrasts with the historic brick vaulted ceilings of the reception location.

Italy, romanticism and shootings stars! What a way to go out with a bang! Auguri to the newlyweds!

What do George Clooney and Wedding Favors Have In Common?

SULMONA!

So the word is out that in the new George Clooney movie "The American" he hides out in a tiny Italian town called Sulmona. This town is very famous for its "confetti" which means sugar-covered almonds used to wish newlyweds the best on their wedding day.

It is said that the origins of these Sulmona confetti go back to the end of the 15th century when the Venetians brought them to this small Abruzzo town. Confetti is the traditional favor given out in almost ALL Italian weddings. However, Sulmona is world famous for its numerous shops and artisanal production of these almond flowers and favors. By using these you could mix traditional with fun ideas like using them for place settings, a candy buffet, etc.

I used these as little peony bouquets in the guest gift bags specially ordered from Sulmona for the most meaningful women at the wedding like our bridesmaids, mothers, and grandma.
For ideas or questions go to Kairos' link on the sidebar or directly to the site www.kairoseventi.it
